Hi everyone, we hope that all of you are doing great! Since we’re all stuck indoors, trying our best to protect us & others, lets talk about how we can make the most out of our time. Firstly for all those who are following the corona virus protocols, we’ve got special respect for you! Keep it up, be an inspiration for your friends and family and together let’s be an institution to educate as many people as we can around us.
Before we start with our Blog today, lets take a moment to pray for the well-being of all mankind around the globe.
Working from home sure sounds like a fun idea at first, but we know how distracting and frustrating it can get, to manage work from an environment like your ‘home’. We’ve all seen those work-from-home memes and videos, haven’t we? haha! Basically the thing is, home is a space we associate with relaxation, with family time and house chores and biggest problem we face in managing a work-from-home routine is how to deal with our own and our family’s expectations, along with all the mess that’s going on around us.
Nothing to worry about though! In today’s age of online world and open communication, there’s absolutely nothing one can’t manage. So you can do it! Yes, you will manage. 😉 So lets try & make this month of self isolation and work-from-home a very much more productive one!
First and foremost, start your day early. Remember that poem from our school days, ‘Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise’ – it truly is the case. The thing is, when you wake up early, you’re driven by an incentive, you have more time on your hands to shower, eat and then get done with all your tasks for the day in due time (sometimes even before that!). The number of tasks you can get done in the early hours of the day (ideally from 8am to 11am) is very much equivalent to an all days’ work. Your energy levels are high and the distractions are way less!
Speaking of distractions, setting up your working-space is so so important! Our environment effects us in so many ways that we can’t imagine. There’s no way one can finish an important report in the lounge with Tom & jerry running on the screen, I mean how can you ignore jerry outsmart tom every single time! lol. Talk about taking a video call with your colleagues while your little brother is singing songs and ami is casually walking past like nothing’s even happened. We understand, it’s not as easy as it sounds. We get it.

Your first step is to find a corner in your house – preferably a space which is not associated with leisure, that can accommodate a suitable working table & chair and has a working socket for your electronics. This setup will make you a lot more productive and a happier person because now you’ve got your ‘very own’ ‘personal space’ ‘at home’!
tip: don’t forget to maintain a good posture, so grab the best chair you can and always sit upright.
Now that you’ve got step-two sorted, its time to Communicate to your family how your working protocols are set, what your work timings are and what your working space means to you. Having a clear and open conversation about your expectations from them and their expectations from you in your new routine is a great idea! 💁
Make notes. One thing that always comes in handy is writing down your daily tasks and goals. If you have a white board, you’re in luck! if not, find a mirror or glass that you can use and put it against a white wall (if it’s a transparent glass or anywhere if it’s a mirror) and start making notes. Set them near your working space to act as a reminder for yourself and as a low-key sign for your family iykwim.
With all that’s going on around us, the constant stress of how to manage things while the Corona virus has hit around the globe, the ongoing thoughts that’s on all our minds about ‘what’s gonna happen?’, ‘how will this end’ and so much more, you really need to Declutter. It is so absolutely necessary to think clearly when you’re working from home, it’s essential to let yourself breathe every once in a while, all this is only possible when we are able to declutter our spaces both mentally and in our environment.
Meditate, add some plants near you and let the sun light in. Sit back, and be mindful of all the blessings you have. Alhamdulillah.
Last but not the least, take breaks, pull some time out for your favourite type of physical activity. This will enhance your creativity, one can only think outside the box when he’s able to step out of one. Take small walks to your kitchen – keep yourself hydrated and well fed (don’t over eat! haha). Its crucial at this time that we keep our bodies in good shape, feed them healthy and protein rich foods and improve our immunity as much as we can.
So keep your vitamins in check, Vit C is great to enhance your immunity!
We hope that this helps, feel free to add ideas from your experiences and share away!
